BFA Orville 3391 L12 Reg: 14711160
Bull
this photo was taken in
July of 06. The cow is a Predestined daughter who was bred for a spring
calf.
Orville is our homegrown cleanup bull who combines two of our
pathfinder cows. He was sired by Madison, a bull we also raised
from one of our first Pathfinder cows.
Orville hit a homerun with his first calf crop and sired
the bull calf who went on to become the top indexing bull at the Culpeper senior BCIA Bull Test in
2006. Orville also sired our top growing heifer this year in
his first calf crop and the heifer was from a Predestined 1st calf
cow.
The bull calf, Questor, has joined his sire at Pipe Dream Farm
to see natural service. The heifer is in the breeding
pen
Orville is currently with a group of twenty cows on Jacks side
of the road and he has freed me from worry about not being able to
AI breed that group of cows.
His second calf crop is on the ground and they are growing
enough for me to know that Questor was no fluke. Several nice calves
growing very well.
It is nice to finally be in a position that the calf quality
and epd profile does not take a step down when the calves are by the
cleanup bull. We have used our own young bulls for years with good
results but Orville is the best total package we have ever
produced.
